NYnet provided a full design and build service to create a temporary wi-fi network to serve the show field.
Kildale Show has been a feature of the local North York Moors community for 143 years and is held annually on the first Saturday in September in the picturesque Kildale valley.
The show is easily accessed from Stokesley, Middlesbrough and Great Ayton, but feels a million miles from local towns. The Show Field sits under Park Nab and Captain Cook’s monument and has dramatic views all around.
Kildale is a remote and scenic area in the North York Moors National Park with no mobile signal. Show organisers recognised that stallholders needed to be able to take cashless payments during the event and for this, wi-fi connectivity would be required. Wi-fi would also enable visitors to access the internet and give the additional benefit of robust communication in the case of emergencies, should it be needed on the day. However, in such a rural location this would prove challenging.
NYnet provided a full design and build service to create a temporary wi-fi network to serve the show field. The temporary installation enabled stallholders at Kildale Show to take cashless payments for the first time and made it possible for visitors to access the internet throughout the event, despite the rural location in the heart of the picturesque North York Moors. The project used much of the same technology and expertise deployed by NYnet for Armed Forces Day (read about event wi-fi for Armed Forces Day)
“Part of Kildale’s charm is its sense of remoteness, one of the few valleys still lacking mobile phone signal. “However, in this day and age it is vital for trade stands and visitors to be able to make cashless transactions and we are delighted that NYNet has chosen to support the show this year.”
