Bespoke network solution for Coast and Vale Learning Trust

Coast and Vale Learning Trust is a rapidly growing school academy in North Yorkshire. The Trust manages schools in Scarborough, Filey and Pickering and, after expanding from two schools to six, identified a need to develop the IT systems across all sites to be agile and flexible.

NYnet is experienced in developing bespoke solutions for schools to make sure their staff and students have the high calibre networks and broadband they need for learning and development.

Key Challenge

Coast and Vale Learning Trust is a small team with 10 people supporting over 3000 students and 500 staff. It is essential that they are efficient and have the capability to work remotely to support their busy school environments.

With each school operating different infrastructure, software and devices, the lack of consistency and reliability made it a real challenge to manage the IT systems and to communicate effectively.

Solution

The domains were merged to create one network servicing all six schools. This means the team can access and work across the sites. NYnet standardised and consolidated internet connectivity and established an MPLS network serving the entire Trust.

As each internet provider’s contract expired, the sites were all brought under one provider, NYnet. NYnet owns its network, which is managed locally by an in-house team for optimum service levels and flexibility. This means the school enjoys personalised support and rapid response times.

Over time we are creating even greater consistency and alignment across the Trust’s family of schools, all backed up by NYnet’s experience in the schools sector and strong local presence.
