North Yorkshire has seen the development of many new business parks in rural areas. These may have been old agricultural buildings converted into spacious and pleasant business centres. Unfortunately in many cases, provisioning business class broadband is costly or not available due to the lack of broadband infrastructure. The lack of such connectivity can have a negative impact on both the landlords trying to rent out their parks and to tenants located there. However, since the development of the NYnet network and infrastructure, access to this type of business connectivity is now available and more cost effective. The Smart Park Project was developed to demonstrate the benefits of Next Generation Broadband to business parks and businesses, through the use of demand aggregation to make the fibre connection more cost effective.
