The collaboration of public sector and private enterprise in this venture creates a major opportunity to meet the challenge of ensuring a socially inclusive approach to all North Yorkshire citizens as both businesses and public sector move towards more digital services.

By partnering with carefully selected commercial organisations, the NYnet core network will offer public sector bodies in North Yorkshire an early opportunity to deliver sophisticated broadband solutions both to employees and citizens.

Sophisticated Broadband Solutions

NYnet will deliver high speed, secure and reliable Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

The features of these VPNs are:

• Speed: All customer sites will have the ability to grow with access speeds of up to 1GBbit/S
• Reliability: Carrier class reliability in the core of 99.95%
• Security: Each VPN are secure from any other VPN
• Future Proof: The NYnet core will expand to service future demand and ensure low contention
• QoS: A Quality of Service policy is implemented as standard
• Internet Access: Uncontended internet access available to all Public Sector users
• Joint Service Provision: Access to other Public Sector users allowing Shared Services
• Interconnect Services: to provide gateway access via the core to other, external service or network providers such as UKERNA, N3, and CJX.
  
  

The principle objective of NYnet is to enable the transformation of the economic prosperity of North Yorkshire whilst also making great strides towards the objectives above, as defined in the Cabinet Office document 'Connecting the UK: the Digital Strategy'.
