As part of its Broadband Roll-out Programme, SFNY has undertaken an Open Market Review (OMR) between 9 November 2015 and 29 January 2016 to gain an awareness of broadband services in the marketplace.

Due to the ever changing nature of technology, suppliers and broadband coverage, it is necessary to run an OMR process to ensure the understanding of existing and planned NGA Broadband coverage is as accurate as possible. Operators were requested to provide information on their existing and planned NGA broadband infrastructure (capable of delivering download speeds of at least 30 Mbps), and to provide detail of their coverage at a premise and infrastructure level so as to enable greater granularity of mapping.

The data provided has assisted SFNY with understanding the full broadband infrastructure (in terms of available speeds and technologies) already in place and where there is pre-existing, defined plans for investment in such infrastructure in the coming three years.

The response from the broadband suppliers in the area has been used to inform SFNY where the 3rd and final phase of its NGA Broadband Programme should be directed.  This has been summarised in a PDF document and high resolution map for Public Consultation by NYCC.

The consultation will be formally published on the NYCC web portal, at http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/sfny on the 1st June 2016 and will run for 1 calendar month.
